Your Family's Safety is Our First Priority
Refinishing a bathtub involves working in a typically small, poorly ventilated bathroom. Many standard kits and epoxies emit toxic fumes (VOCs) that are harmful to breathe and can remain in the air for days.
We designed Armoglaze to stand out by offering a product that is durable, beautiful, and independently certified as safe for your family.
What is EPA Method 24? And What Are VOCs?
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) uses Method 24 to test the amount of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in paints and coatings.
VOCs are the harmful chemical solvents that cause that strong, toxic "paint smell." These fumes are unsafe for indoor use and can cause headaches, dizziness, and respiratory issues. A "Zero-VOC" or "Low-VOC" product is considered the safest and most eco-friendly choice.
The Armoglaze Difference: Proven by Lab Reports
Many brands claim to be "eco-friendly" or "zero-VOC," but we believe in proof. We have submitted our Armoglaze kits to RTI Laboratories, an independent testing facility, to be analyzed using the official EPA-24 method. Our results confirm our commitment to safety.
1. Near-Zero VOCs When Mixed
Our product has been independently verified through lab testing to be ultra-low-VOC. One test of our "as mixed" paint (Part A + Part B) showed a VOC content of only 0.01 lbs/gallon. This is well below most coatings and confirms that our formula is safe for indoor DIY projects.
2. Confirmed Safe & Inert After Curing
Your family's safety remains even after the project is finished. We tested our cured Armoglaze finish to ensure it's completely safe to touch, bathe in, and use daily.
The lab tests show:
- No Leaching: The cured finish was exposed to hot (60°C) and cold (10°C) water for one hour.
- Completely Stable: After the water exposure, the cured paint was retested and showed 100.0% non-volatile residue (meaning none of it dissolved into the water) and a VOC content of less than 0.1 lbs/gallon.
